About Me

Hi, I'm Mark L.

I'm 45 — married, two kids, government job, $105K salary. Last year I crossed $1M in my investment portfolio. No inheritance. No crypto windfall. No side business. Just 17 years of consistent investing and, eventually, finding the right tools.

I've always been the person in the family people call when they have a money question. Not because I have a finance degree — I don't — but because I've spent more hours than I can count reading, testing, and occasionally losing money on the wrong approach. That experience is what this site is built on.

Self-Directed Investor | 17+ Years of Real-Money Experience

I've subscribed to — and stress-tested — over a dozen investment platforms with my own money. This site is where I share what I found.

When I started seriously comparing investment tools in 2023, I assumed they'd all do roughly the same thing. I was wrong. Most of them answer exactly one question — “which stock should I buy?” — from slightly different angles. Seeking Alpha has 18,000 contributors doing it. Motley Fool does it with two picks a month. TipRanks does it by ranking analyst track records. Zacks does it with earnings revisions. Different packaging, same fundamental assumption.

What none of them answered — until I found Exent.AI — was the question I actually needed answered: does my portfolio work? Not individual stocks. The whole system. Concentration risk. Correlation between holdings. Sector exposure. Whether my “diversified” portfolio would all drop together when the market turned.

I've spent over $30,000 in subscription fees across 12 platforms over two years. I watched $40K evaporate during COVID because I didn't understand how my holdings were connected. I got burned by auto-renewals, misleading performance claims, and tools that looked great in demos and fell flat in practice. This site is the guide I wish existed before I made those mistakes.

My goal is simple: give you an honest, experience-based comparison from someone who has actually paid for and used all of these tools — not a press release rewrite, not an affiliate farm, not a list of platforms I've never logged into. Whether you're managing $50K or $1M, I want you to walk away knowing exactly which tool is worth your time and money.
